Residency 14.-20. April  Tårnby Park Studio 

At Tårnby Park Studio, Mark Tholander will further develop a performance series that he began at the exhibition Ensembles and Monsters at Kunsthal Aarhus in 2024.

A group of beekeepers moves like ghosts through a void. They reach out to one another and attempt to collaborate, but the bees have disappeared. They appear anonymous under their suits, isolated in a protective capsule from their surroundings—but what are they protecting themselves from in this emptiness, where neither nature nor society exists?

The performance combines dance, music, and acting. Through this, the beekeepers relive a series of memories, gradually giving rise to a hope for a new future and the rebuilding of relationships through their ritualistic remembrance. Step by step, they use music, communal singing, and synchronized movements to reconnect with the world and with each other.

During the process at Tårnby Park Studio, Mark Tholander will collaborate with dancer André Kaliff as well as dancer and choreographer Joana Ellen Öhlschläger.
